Hello, Magical Girls!

I recently received the new cover art for Warded Wishes, done by the fantastic Arusuko! I'm a fan of their work, and I'm very grateful for the opportunity to work with them to give Warded Wishes a facelift. My vision was to have their art on the cover back when Warded Wishes was originally in development, so it's a bit of a "dream come true" moment. Additionally, the characters featured on the cover are the Oak Pact, one of the premade groups from the original book. I came up with these characters back when I was running Magical Burst by Ewen Cluney about 7 years ago, and somewhere I even have a text adventure from Milena's point of view. So, here's a crunchy version of the art!

As I was working on updates for the Norhrost setting, rewatching Madoka, and running a Warded Wishes campaign, I came up with some more ideas that felt appropriate for WW1.0. I'm not sure what exactly I'll have by the end of it, but I know I definitely want to take a second look at Monstrosity health pools as well as Soul Drain. I also realized for all of the Contractors out there that... the book doesn't really say how the game's meant to be run, which I addressed in Norhrost, but that information really wants to be in the core rulebook. I also want to add a few more Advanced Specialties, and that means moving them over to the core rulebook as well as adding a few more in. I also have plans to add more variety to Mirrors and Monstrosities.

One final note, the largest hurdle I can see is shifting the rulebook from Google Docs to more of an EPub format. Even if it's just for me, I one day want to have a physical print copy, and that means readying things for printing. I haven't used InDesign for years, but I've been learning how to work in Affinity Publisher, and I can already tell that the move will open up a lot more fun formatting opportunities instead of committing crimes in Google Docs.
