Happy Walpurgisnacht! 0.92 is out!


HAPPY WALPURGISNACHT!

Today marks the 1 year anniversary of Warded Wishes, and that really nicely lines up with what I've got today!

0.92 is now out, which includes a lot of small changes to a lot of the game's systems.

I'll post a full changelog below.

Additionally, the first piece of extra Warded Wishes content is now out! A Magical Girl's Guide to Norhrosthas been a great project to be working on since it's kept me thinking about changes, and I have a really good playtest group helping with me! It includes a three-arc campaign, a bunch of maps and locations, and some tools for the Contractor that should make running a game without experience easier. What y'all may be most excited about is the addition of a few Advanced Specialties that allow Veteran Magical Girls to build up their Specialty even more! Anyways I haven't slept in a few days getting THIS and THAT done by Walpurgisnacht, so I'm going to drop the changelog here:

Action Changes

  •  Power Through has been modified for clarity
  • Connect and Don't Let Up were tweaked for balance
  • Taunt got updated to work with some new systems
  • Consume Curses specifies you need to spend the Curse Cubes, but can also spend more of them to heal a Soul Drain
  • Chase and Flee reworded to actually work and streamlined
  • Evasive Maneuvers reworked to not be a silver bullet for everything, gained Magical and Diminishing tags
  • Attack Recklessly isn't compatible with Invisible
  • Defend your Friends gained Magical tag
  • Stay Calm can result in Soul Drains
  • Trace Magic lost the Magical tag
  • Hang Out now uses Clocks
  • Pull an All-Nighter (mood) was changed so it wasn't optimal to run it every other Downtime
  • New Action - Perform your Social Duties (There was no formal way to interact with Social Obligation clocks)
  • New Action - Betray

Archetypes

  • Mender - Panacea and Harmonize were buffed
  • Mender - Restoration reworded
  • Witch - Karmic Cannibalism was reworded for clarity
  • Leader - Relay reworded for clarity
  • Destroyer - Wrecking ball was reworded for clarity

Specialties

  • Time - Time Stop was modified so it can't be infinitely looped
  • Elemntalist - Harmony modified to not refer to Act Magically, a non-combat action. Additionally, it's now tied to specific tiles
  • Summoner- One in the Hand items expire at end of scene
  • Barrier - Aegis - Dome reworked

Health, Harm, and Damage

  • Shield mechanic was codified into its own section
  • Healing Drains was reworded for clarity
  • Curse Crystals can heal Soul Drains*

Other

  • Rooftops tweaked and reworded for clarity, also can't benefit from any cover at all on them
  • Tunnels clarified that visibility is 1 no matter what, so it can get around fog effects
  • Tile Modifiers were tweaked for hopefully better and more intuitive numbers and scaling
  • Monstrosity Initiative was tweaked
  • Tiles that don't have characters on them now usually don't receive cover damage
  • Contractor section of the book has some text on Monstrosity attitudes and Mirrors
  • Invisibility was combined, and is now a single keyword used in Hide, Skirmisher - Perception Prevention, and Stealth - Stealth Field
  • Tiers were changed to use titles instead of numbers
  • Magical Girls now have an Experience Threshold (Monstrosity Challenge Rating was renamed to Experience Threshold)
  • Size 2+ Monstrosities can't fit into Tunnels, too chunky
  • Thresholds above 6 were clarified
  • Magicless Action tag was renamed to Fated
  • Kamigakari added to credited inspirations, it's where I got the concept for Fate pools from and forgor to add it there
  • Slight spelling changes when it came to Reduces vs Reductions and Limit Breaking vs Limit-Breaking
  • Rollable tables still called them Fate Gems instead of Soul Gems
  • Google Sheet Reference Sheet updated to parity with 0.92
